How Are Food Allergies Treated?
Crystal Canyon ENT & Facial Plastic Surgery offers primary care for allergies with comprehensive in-house allergy testing. Our team may perform a skin prick test, which introduces food allergens, just below the surface of the skin to monitor any reaction. A blood test will measure the amount of allergen-causing antibodies in the bloodstream. We also offer in-office immunotherapy in the form of allergy shots or take-home sublingual drops. Both the shots and drops contain tiny amounts of allergens to stimulate the immune system, but they do not cause a full-blown allergic reaction.
Once you've been tested for food sensitivities, it's important to avoid these types of foods as much as possible. However, we realize this is not always possible. In some cases, you may accidentally be exposed to these allergies through no fault of your own. If that happens, we may prescribe antihistamines for minor reactions that should aid in alleviating the associated symptoms. For more severe allergies, patients will usually need an injection of epinephrine as soon as possible. We recommend these patients carry one with them at all times in case of emergencies.

I started my journey with Crystal Canyon in 2022. Tey are very informative and surgery was scheduled quickly. Well the day came for surgery and found out I had COVID. Surgery was cancelled. I got rescheduled for May of 2023, (this was due to my schedule not Crystal Canyons). When surgery came it went very well, I could not be happier. The results and outcome are life changing. Communication with the office is good. Doctor is attentive and takes time to explain things when you have questions. I definitely recommend and have recommended Crystal Canyon to other friends.
