How Is Anosmia Treated?
Anosmia treatment depends on the cause of the condition. If anosmia is brought on by nasal congestion from a cold or allergy, our team at Crystal Canyon ENT & Facial Plastic Surgery may recommend the short-term use of over-the-counter decongestants. If the condition is caused by an infection, antibiotics may be the better remedy. For patients who may have nasal polyps, our team may propose surgery to remove obstructions and reclaim your sense of smell. If we suspect a medication may be affecting the senses, we may explore other treatment options, including sinus surgery with SINUVA®. SINUVA is an FDA-approved stent that shrinks nasal polyps, expands the ethmoid sinus, and improves the sense of smell, delivering anti-inflammatory medication for 90 days until removed by a physician.
Sometimes anosmia is not treatable and becomes permanent so we recommend food safety and fire detectors and smoke alarms be installed when your nose is unable to be environmentally aware.

I started my journey with Crystal Canyon in 2022. Tey are very informative and surgery was scheduled quickly. Well the day came for surgery and found out I had COVID. Surgery was cancelled. I got rescheduled for May of 2023, (this was due to my schedule not Crystal Canyons). When surgery came it went very well, I could not be happier. The results and outcome are life changing. Communication with the office is good. Doctor is attentive and takes time to explain things when you have questions. I definitely recommend and have recommended Crystal Canyon to other friends.
