While a person’s allergies can never be cured, the symptoms can be successfully controlled and managed. Below are examples of how we evaluate a person’s allergies and sensitivities.

MOLDS

Physical Symptoms: Wet cough, Chronic Sinusitis, Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, Headaches, Nasal Obstruction, Itching of skin and eyes, Pharyngitis, Laryngitis, Matting of the eyes, Cloudy nasal discharge.

Exposure Causing Symptoms:Dampness, Basements, attics, rainy weather, mowing the lawn, Symptoms: gardening, old leather, clothing or books, cheeses, mustiness, outdoors (in P.M.), in air conditioning, older building / homes, factories, barns, hay.

POLLENS

Physical Symptoms: Itching, watery, red eyes, thin / clear nasal mucous, sneezing, dry hacking cough, nasal itching.

Exposures Causing Symptoms: Any outdoor activities, mowing lawn, open windows, April through September until first hard frost.

DANDERS

Physical Symptoms: Itching of the nose, red /watery eyes, sneezing, itching of the roof mouth, clear nasal drainage.

Exposures Causing Symptoms: Daily exposure to animals, feather pillow, animal care employees, research labs, pet stores.

HOUSE DUST/DUST MITE

Physical Symptoms: Sneezing, clear / cloudy nasal discharge, burning of the nasal passages, nasal stuffiness, chronic sinusitis, symptom increase in the A.M., after arising, cough.

Exposure Causing Symptoms: Carpets, pillows, mattress and box springs, attics, storage areas, upholstered furniture. 

Pollen

Intradermal testing offers individuals immediate results to their specific allergens. Below you will find the full panel of items tested during the visit.

Food

As many as 15 million people have food allergies. Our food allergy and sensitivity panels offer individuals a thorough evaluation of their specific food allergies. Some of the blood panels test over 90 different items from A to Z and include fixed allergens as well as food sensitivities such as gluten. In addition, you will be given a customized wellness program based on your results.

Environmental

Dr. Fratianni or our FNP-C will take a comprehensive approach to what environmental factors may be triggering your allergies and will recommend various methods in avoiding these allergic reactions.
